Dear parents of children in 3rd-6th grade,

A new school year and a new choir season are here, and with them come new opportunities to help our children develop one of their most precious gifts – the singing voice. As parents we have a tremendous influence on our children, also on their decisions and what they tend to see as valuable and important. What we support, they are willing to pursue, and what we encourage and give priority to, they continue to be a part of – even when the luster at times temporarily wears thin.

For us at St. Patrick Catholic Church the beginning of the Children’s Choir this fall brings extra excitement as we organize and anticipate these special events and activities: Christmas Eve Mass with Pageant, December 24, Palm Sunday, and First Communion May, and singing once a month at 5:00 pm Sunday night, to name a few. Additionally, the choir has occasional social activities to foster growth and development.

As you would expect in any Christian choir, our foremost goal is to develop the children’s singing voices in order that they can share a unique gift, something of their very own, in worship to the greater glory of God and to help proclaim His great love and Word to us through song. To assist them in doing this more near to their potential, we assure you and your child(ren) of our best effort as we seek to help them develop their singing voice more nearly to its potential.

Now is the time to “get started.” The Children’s Choir rehearses every Wednesday, beginning October 1, from 5:30 p.m. to 6:20 p.m. in the School’s Music Center Building room – located near the playground and swings. The choir is open from 3rd Grade to 6th Grade. Parent(s) are asked to attend the first rehearsal to fill out paperwork and to obtain a calendar.

If you have any concerns or questions of any kind, please feel free to email me at tim@stpccdallas.org or call me at 469-807-3735. We truly look forward to a great year of rewarding time, learning, and spiritual fulfillment. I hope your child(ren) will be part of this choir experience with us.

Wishing you Christ’s peace,

Timothy Jacquet – Director of Music
