All of us grieve differently. No one should have to grieve alone. Are you looking for a support system after your loss? You are invited to come to our weekly grief ministry meetings. Our format is very welcoming and non-intrusive.
Grief and sorrow are a natural painful response to losing something you value. It can be from a loss of a spouse, child, parent, family member, friend, job, mobility of limbs, pet, or from a relationship breakup such as divorce – everyone who is experiencing grief and sorrow is welcomed. Grief and sorrow are not a disorder, or a sign of weakness. It is an emotional, physical and spiritual hardship with intense feelings. It may be hard for you to feel optimistic about the future. Your faith and your relationship with God may be struggling. These feelings have the ability to isolate you from friends and other loved ones who don’t understand the depth of the pain you are experiencing. This can also be a confusing time when you have many questions about things you’ve never faced before. Good news you do not have to go through this alone.
St. Patrick has a ministry group called Grace Over Grief. Grace Over Grief is more than a group, it is a community of others who understand your journey with compassion and empathy. This warm and welcoming community offers you a safe space where you can share your experiences, feelings, find understanding and validation. You will be able to share your grief and sorrow without the fear of being judged or misunderstood. What is shared in the group stays in the group, ensuring a safe space for everyone.
By participating in this group, you will find solace, guidance, and a sense of community that can aid in your journey through grief and sorrow. You will find comfort and strength in knowing you are not alone with mutual support and understanding. You will find hope in the inspiration and comfort of others’ stories of resilience and healing. Hearing other stories helps you to realize that your emotional responses are common and a part of the natural healing process and you are not alone. Facilitators and members share helpful coping mechanisms that have worked for them, helping individuals to expand their toolbox for managing these overwhelming feelings. This community will help prepare you to deal with triggers and provide support in handing difficult milestones. You will find by your sharing will help others on their healing journey.
Grace Over Grief meets weekly on Thursday evenings from 6:30 pm to 8:30 pm in the Student Center located inside St. Patrick School. You are welcome to join our group on the evenings you are available, and the curriculum is Catholic and spiritual based and self-contained, so you don’t have to attend in sequence. If you need to leave early that is acceptable as well – we meet you where you are in your life at that moment. Normally there are snacks that are shared during our time together.
