Extraordinary Ministers of Holy Communion assist in ministering Christ’s body and blood to the People of God. They are called “extraordinary” because the ordinary ministers of Holy Communion are the ordained clergy (bishops, priests and deacons). Parishioners are needed to administer the Eucharist at all Masses, including Holy Day Masses.

All ministers of Holy Communion should show the greatest reverence for the Most Holy Eucharist by their demeanor, their attire, and the manner in which they handle the consecrated bread or wine.

Qualifications:

-Be a registered member of the parish.

-Be fully initiated in the faith—that is, be baptized, have received First Eucharist, be confirmed, and if married, the marriage must be recognized by the Catholic Church.

-Complete EM training.
