The St. Patrick African Community is very diverse. As the gospel of Luke affirms to us: “And people will come from east and west, and from north and south, and recline at table in the kingdom of God.” – Lk 13:29. We are from a diverse and multicultural background brought together by the Catholic faith. Through the outreach ministry, St Patrick has welcomed and touched the lives of many immigrants from Africa. Likewise, we have over the years enriched the parish community life by participating in the Liturgy and other parish ministries. The Outreach Mass on the 5th Sundays of the month over the years allowed us to share our faith through singing at Mass. The diversity of the African culture is represented by countries including, but not limited to, Burundi, Cameroun, Congo, Eritrea, Ivory Coast, Ghana, Kenya, Liberia, Nigeria, Rwanda, Sierra Leone, South Sudan, Tanzania, Togo, Zambia and Zimbabwe.
On October 2, 2018, the first meeting of parishioners of African descent was convened in the presence of Fr. Josef Vollmer-Konig for the sole purpose of organizing and uniting in building the Body of Christ at St. Patrick. We strive for continued participation in the way of life at St. Patrick. We bring a cultural enrichment to our faith community while focusing on the one thing that binds us together – Faith in One God.
Currently, we have one Nigerian Mass at 2:00 pm on the Second Sunday of every month.
