Students in grades 7-12 are encouraged to participate in various Church and School activities, ministries, programs, and events by serving as volunteer “teen aides.”
Before a teen is eligible to participate, they must first meet Teen Screening Requirements for Safe Environment.
These requirements are different than the screening for ADULTS (which includes students who are 18 years old or will be within a couple of months).
When adults are “cleared,” they remain cleared annually ONLY if they update their training annually. However, there is NO ANNUAL TRAINING requirement for Teen Aides - - once a teen completes teen screening requirements, he or she remains cleared to serve until they turn age 18. Upon turning 18 years old, a teen volunteer CAN NOT continue to serve unless and until he or she has completed the adult Safe Environment Program.
Teens have TWO requirements:
When a teen has completed BOTH requirements, he or she will be added to a database of all cleared TEENS. Ministry leaders check this list when using Teen volunteers to assure teens are cleared.
REMINDER: Once these requirements are met, the teen is cleared until they turn age 18. Teens may still be required, however, to attend training required by the specific ministries with which they wish to serve.
